Youth Are Great Teachers

Youth Are Great Teachers

First, before I explain what I mean by “Youth are Great Teachers” lets give some statistics that Pastor Jamie and Jorge gave us this evening at dinner.

We have seen and shared the gospel as a group to over 1500 kids, we were able to share the message with over 60 kids at VBS today and Mary was able to witness to over 20 women during VBS. This is mind blowing to think about of what has been accomplished.

1 Timothy 4:12 “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in purity.”

As Paul was writing this to young Timothy, Paul was saying don’t let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young. As we have come to a close this week in Guatemala, and to think about the number of kids we have been able to witness to this verse has truly been lived by the youth on this trip; Sarah, Emma and Lilly. These three young ladies have really blossomed over the week and I have been able to see first hand their condifence in Christ as they have shared and witnessed to the people of Guatemala.

Today, as we were finishing our time with the school we visited, we had to present to the oldest kids of the school. Our group consisted of Stephen, Dave, Lilly, myself (Alex) and Eddie, our translator. The story we presented to the prior classes was the Stroy of Zacchaeus and I asked Lilly to present the gospel using the card we have been handing out with the bracelets even though we did not have the bracelets to hand out, she would still be able to share the story. Lilly was very hesitant when I jokingly told her she would have to read the card in spanish and our translator Eddie would read in English. Lilly was nervous to say the least, but as Stephen shared his personal testimony you could see her posture and confidence begin to blossom. Lilly rocked the presentation without any distractions and/or complications, along with the excellent translation by Eddie. Two young ladies in the classroom accepted Christ and it was due to Lilly being an example as a believer by her sharing her testimony and seeing the Holy Spirit move throughout the classroom as she walked the kids through the salvation bracelet card.

The youth on this trip have been an excellent example of how important the youth are and can be in presenting the gospel. This week has been once again eye opening and a true blessing to be apart of the mission team coming to Guatemala.

I look forward to see what God has in store for future plans in the ministry of Guatemala and how Ivy Creek can be a blessing to the people of Guatemala.

God Bless,
Alex
