Sermon in a Sentence
A believer’s motivation to engage in deeds of righteousness must never be to gain the fleeting applause of others, but rather the lasting approval of God the Father.
Guiding Principle: God is concerned not simply with “what” we do, but with “why” we do it.
1st Half of the Warning: We must guard against the desire to call attention to ourselves in order to impress others.
2nd Half of the Warning: When human approval becomes the driving force behind our acts of righteousness, we forfeit God’s approval.
