Sermon in a Sentence
The authoritative standard that should govern every Christian’s life as we relate to others is that we are to be consciously concerned with their best-interests, treating them just as we would desire to be treated, and as God has treated us.
- “Therefore…”: As Christians we are called to remember the goodness that our Heavenly Father has shown us, and then imitate the goodness in the way that we deal with others.
- “…whatever you want men to do to you…”: As Christians we are called to consider how we would wish to be treated and then respond to others in like manner.
- “…do also to them…”: As Christians we are called to actively and deliberately pursue the best-interests of others.
- “…for this is the Law and the Prophets.”: As Christians we are called to love others by putting their needs on the same level as our own, thereby fulfilling the requirement of God’s Law.
