Ivy Creek Guatemala Mission Tuesday 7-11-2017
The ICBC team had breakfast this morning here at SETECA cafeteria. Pat & I met Herbert from Rome, Ga. he was telling us that he was born in Guatemala City and came back to be with his mother who is ill, while here he is attending school to become a teacher. In Rome he had attended Shorter College and was a supervisor at a textile mill in Cartersville, Ga. Herbert hopes to return to Rome in November.
ICBC team went again to the private school this morning to be with the kindergarten through 3rd grade students to share Bible stories, work on crafts making cross as well as continuing the creation, life story, & what happen once we depart this earth. Our translators are amazing or at least that is the way I see it by the reactions of the students. We come here trying to share Christ and giving them hope now as well as forever. I think I can talk for the team by saying each day here, though very long, we come away blessed.
We came back to SETECA cafeteria. For lunch today then to Pastor Carlos’s church in the dump. We broke off in teams going out to meet the people who live in the dump area. Be in prayer for some I remember that were discussed later in our sharing & devotional time. A family, who are believers, asked for prayer for their business (textile sewing purses, blankets, etc) made from scraps of cloth. Lupe a woman who said when asked if she would like a Spanish Gideon Bible said that her son and her neither could read, but that her daughter-in-law could. Nancy who is a believer and goes to Pastor Carlos’s Church who has two small boys -youngest 8 months old- has been diagnosed with gallstones. Nancy’s doctor has ask her to have an operation and she asked us to pray for her –wanting an opinion as to whether she should have the operation.
We went back to the place we are staying and had a pizza dinner so we could move on to a service at Pastor Saul’s Church. Pastor Dave Wiley delivered a timely message about how awesome CHRIST JESUS was, is, and will always be. We finished the sermon by removing the chairs, forming a circle of approximately 50 people where Jerry Hughes said a prayer for the church people and Pastor Carlos did a prayer for ICBC Team.
Back to the place we are staying where we had a time of sharing with one another about our experiences for this day. Emma Mainer did the devotional. We then worked on putting crafts, etc together for tomorrow as well as fixing 30 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for tomorrow’s lunch.
WE ARE THANKFUL FOR ICBC LEADERSHIP AND CHURCH FAMILY LIFTING US UP IN PRAYER AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE OF GUATAMALA CITY.
MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU
